With hoopla, you can choose from over a million movies, TV programmes, comics, music albums, e-books and e-audiobooks. Bundles of magazines from around the world are available through a Bingepass.

Accessing through a web browser
- Go to the hoopla webpage
- Click on Get started
- Click on Let’s go!
- Select Tauranga City Libraries and click on Next
- Enter your library card number and PIN, agree to the terms and conditions, and click Next
- Enter your email address and create a password, and click on Complete registration
Once you’ve created your account, you will only need to log in with your email and password.
Using the hoopla app
- Download the hoopla app from the App Store or Google Play
- Touch Don’t have an account?’ Sign up
- Enter your email address and create a password, and touch Next
- Search for Tauranga City Libraries and touch agree
- Allow hoopla to exchange information with the library and touch Next
- Enter your library card number and PIN
- Touch Continue
Once you’ve created your account, you will only need to log in with your email and password.

Frequently Asked Questions
You can borrow up to 15 items per month. Your balance will reset at the beginning of each calendar month (unused loans will not carry over into the next month).
You can return the title before the lending period has expired by clicking the ‘return’ button located underneath the title. This is a good way to manage your device storage and remove content you are finished with. Returning something early will not affect your loan credits. The 15-item loan limit is a monthly total, not a limit for maximum titles at a time.
Yes. Bear in mind it you renew it, it will count as one of your 15 loans. You’ll get the option to renew 24 hours before your item is due to return.

No. Items will automatically return themselves.
It’s possible to download an item on your mobile device (the browser version is available for streaming only). The item will automatically delete itself from your device when the loan period is up.
Yes. If you spot something you’d like to remember to watch, click on the heart next to the title. To view the titles that you have saved, click on ‘my hoopla’ at the top of the screen, and choose ‘favorites’.
You can use hoopla with any number of supported devices. However, you can only use your account on one device at a time. If you try to use your account on another device at the same time you will receive a multiple device warning. To prevent this error message, make sure hoopla is closed on all of your devices before you try to use your borrowed content.
hoopla supports both Android and Apple TV. You will need to download the hoopla app. When you open hoopla for the first time, you’ll be guided through the process of connecting your hoopla account. You will need to have access to a web browser on your computer or mobile device. If you cannot download the app directly to your TV, you can cast from a mobile device using Google Chromecast or Apple Airplay. Alternatively, connect your computer via HDMI cable and stream your items through the hoopla website. Hoopla supports the connection of an iPad or iPhone using an official Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter
A BingePass is a group of items that you can borrow together. They count as one loan. The content of some BingePasses is available on hoopla, while others will take you to the platform of the content provider. No personal information is passed on to them; they just know you came from hoopla. Once you borrow a BingePass, you can access it immediately. To access the content again, you can find your BingePass through the ‘borrowed’ section of ‘my hoopla’. When your loan period is up, you’re welcome to borrow the same BingePass again.
